HCC Athletic Director Earns 2024 Coach of the Year Award

05/01/2024

Sarah Lytle, Hillsborough Community College (HCC) athletic director and tennis head coach, was selected as the 2024 Florida College System Activities Association (FCSAA) Coach of the Year. This is the fourth year in a row that Lytle has received this award.

“It really is an honor to be named Coach of the Year,” Lytle said. “Of course it would not be possible without my assistant coaches, athletics staff and my boss Dean Bentrovato who support me and the team throughout the year.”

Under Lytle and the coaching staff, the Lady Hawks completed an impressive 9-1 season and won the FCSAA/National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Region 8 State Championship on April 18-19 at the Tejas Pradip Patel HCC Tennis Center, where Lytle was also recognized.

“Coaching a motivated team of women who work hard to accomplish the team and personal goals also has made this award possible,” she said.

The Lady Hawks are now preparing to head to the NJCAA Division 1 Women’s Tennis Championship on May 4-8 in Tyler, Texas.

“Coach Lytle has once again accomplished an outstanding feat by being named coach of the year,” said Dale Mabry Campus Dean of Student Services, Joe Bentrovato. “Her approach to coaching and nurturing our student-athletes should be a model for any coach. The results are impressive; great students academically and athletically who have reached a high level of success once again.”

The Lady Hawks currently practice and compete at the Tejas Pradip Patel HCC Tennis Center, located on the Dale Mabry Campus. For court registration, center hours and more, please visit hccfl.edu/tennis-center.
