The Hillsborough Community College (HCC) Lady Hawks Tennis team won the Florida College System Activities Association (FCSAA) Region 8 State Championship on April 17-18 at the Tejas Pradip Patel HCC Tennis Center. They will compete at the 2025 National Junior College Athletics Association (NJCAA) Division 1 Women’s Tennis Championship on May 3-7, 2025, in Tyler, Texas.
“It was an incredible day for the Lady Hawks” said Sarah Lytle, HCC athletic director and tennis head coach. “As their coach, it was amazing to see how much they’ve grown and matured over the past year. Bringing home the FCSAA State Title is always a goal—but now, our focus shifts to Nationals. We’re all determined to bring home the NJCAA Championship title.”
HCC entered the postseason with an ITA ranking of No. 1, completing an overall 10-2 season with a 4-0 conference record. During the tournament, the team earned a perfect score of 18 points by winning all six singles flights and three doubles flights.
The winners of those flights are as follows:
Lytle was recognized as the 2025 FCSAA Coach of the Year for the fifth year in a row. Catherine Goldman was also honored as the 2025 FCSAA Player of the Year for the second time after earning the same honor during the 2024 tournament as a first-year student.
