Tampa, Fla. – Hillsborough Community College (HCC) is pleased to announce the hiring of Tony Sloan as the new director of development of the HCC Foundation.
Sloan brings 36 years of experience in fundraising to the position, serving 24 of those years in various leadership roles directly in the Tampa Bay area with organizations including the University of South Florida, Tampa Preparatory School, Cambridge Christian School and the Admiral Farragut Academy.
“Tony is a strategic leader skilled in assembling and leading teams to achieve fundraising goals,” said Garrett Weddle, executive director of the HCC Foundation. “He brings a wealth of knowledge, specifically in fundraising in the education space, and we are excited for him to make an immediate impact.”
Sloan holds a Bachelor of Arts in political science from Indiana University and a Master of Arts in public administration from the University of South Alabama. He is dedicated to giving back with his time, serving on the boards of various nonprofit organizations throughout his career. He is a retired U.S. Air Force Reserve Lieutenant Colonel, serving in both Iraq and Afghanistan. Additionally, Sloan serves as an official with the National Collegiate Athletics Association College Football for the USA South Atlantic Conference and the Old Dominion Athletic Conference.
Sloan assumed the position at HCC on Oct. 21, 2024.
