Hillsborough Community College Foundation Announces Creation of Student Emergency Fund

As a reaction to the challenges students are facing during these unprecedented times, the Hillsborough Community College (HCC) Foundation established the HawkStrong Student Emergency Fund. These funds will be provided to currently enrolled students to cover the costs of housing, food, childcare, healthcare, technology and other immediate financial needs that could keep them from completing the semester.

"The Foundation shares in the world's concerns for the health, safety and welfare of our communities, and in particular that of our students, which is why this crucial fund was developed," said Stephen Shear, executive director of the HCC Foundation.

Many HCC students are already fighting to stay in school because of economic disadvantage brought on by this pandemic. With assistance from the community, the College can make sure they don't lose that fight.

If you are able, we ask that you join us in supporting this effort by visiting our website, Every size gift makes a difference, and we hope you will be as generous as you can.

"In times of crisis, HCC has always reached out with arms wide open, and I couldn't be prouder," HCC President Dr. Ken Atwater said.

Together, the community will persevere and lift up our inspiring, deserving students, helping them fulfill their dreams and serve our community.
