The Hillsborough Community College Athletics Program is pleased to
announce that Chase Ingram of the Hawks baseball team has been selected
by the New York Mets in the 6th round of the 2015 Major League Baseball
draft. Ingram, 20, is a right handed pitcher from Wesley Chapel, and led
the Hawks pitching roster this season, earning the admiration of his
coaches and teammates.
“Chase was one of our hardest workers on the team this season and his
great year shows it,” stated Michael Wrenn, associate head coach. “He
battled all year long in every game and gave our team a great chance to
win every time he took the field.”
Ingram’s impressive season for the Hawks included 11 wins in 15 games,
recording 120 strikeouts in over 100 innings and managing a 1.88 ERA.
Prior to the draft, Ingram had accepted a scholarship to the University
of Pittsburgh for fall ‘15 to continue his collegiate career. But
following his recent draft selection, Ingram has committed to the New
York Mets and is scheduled to report to the St. Lucie Mets of the
Florida State League in the coming days to continue his dream of playing
professionally.
