Fire Science Online recognizes Hillsborough Community College’s fire
science technology and emergency medical services programs for their top
return on investments for graduates in the nation.
“These rankings affirm HCC’s commitment to quality and affordability,”
said Dr. Ken Atwater, HCC college president. “Our role to train this
community’s first responders is a source of great pride and
responsibility for us, and we work in partnership with local government
and agencies to ensure that our students graduate with the necessary
advanced skills they need to be successful in the field.”
Fire science made the 39th spot in a pool of 90 programs
including nine in the state of Florida – HCC ranked top out of the
Florida schools. EMT was 28th among the top 80 named. Fire
Science online identified the program with the highest return on
investment using national salary, tuition, enrollment and accreditation

HCC’s fire science technology program is state-certified and includes
training in fire attack and control, fire ground ladder, hose and rope
operation, hazardous materials and basic emergency medical care. The EMT
certificate is a one-semester program that prepares students to provide
basic life support measures during medical emergencies.
Hillsborough Community College serves more than 46,000 students annually
on campuses on Dale Mabry Highway in Tampa and in Brandon, Plant City,
