Hillsborough Community College to Hold 50th Annual Commencement Ceremony on Friday, May 3, 2019

The 50th Annual Commencement Exercises of Hillsborough Community College (HCC) will be held on Friday, May 3, 2019, in the Expo Hall of the Florida State Fairgrounds.  This year’s commencement speaker is Elizabeth Smith, Executive Chairman, Bloomin’ Brands, Inc. Student speaker, Garrett Pardoe served in the U.S. Marine Corps, including two combat deployments to Afghanistan.  The graduation processional will begin at 9:30 a.m.

Over 4,300 students are eligible to participate in the graduation ceremony which includes those who have completed coursework over the 2018-2019 academic year.   Graduates include those receiving the associate in arts, associate in science, and college credit certificates.  The youngest graduate is 16-year-old Arlette Brito, dual enrollment student who has earned an associates in arts degree.  The oldest graduate is 72-year-old Rita Blizzard who has earned a paralegal associate in science degree.

It is anticipated that over 1,400 students will participate in this year’s ceremony.

This commencement ceremony marks five decades of graduates. Over the past 50 years, the college has grown to one of the largest regional educational institutions with an alumni network of one million and growing.

Hillsborough Community College serves more than 45,000 students annually at campuses on Dale Mabry Highway in Tampa and in Brandon, Plant City, Ruskin, and Ybor City.   HCC is accredited to offer associate degrees and certificates by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools.
