HCC Ybor City Campus Presents Fall Dance Concert

November 14, 2018

Dateline:

Tampa

Hillsborough Community College’s dance program presents the annual Fall Dance Concert on November 15 -17 at 7:30 p.m., in the Mainstage Theatre at the Ybor City Campus.

This year’s concert features performances by the HCC Dance Ensemble performing works by faculty and guest choreographers. Highlights include There’s a Groove in My Jam, which features a rambunctious, humorous, high-energy, jazz dance-like quartet, accompanied by fast-paced, in-your-face, jazz saxophone music, from the World Saxophone Quartet.  Steps Back Home, Sea Lee's creative research about “comfort women”- the sex slaves forced by Japan to work in military brothels during the second world war. Commemorating those women who yearned to return back home, the piece further speaks to decades of a struggle for justice in today’s world when sexual violence continues to be an instrument of arms conflicts.  Also, Rhapsody by guest artist, Jon Lehrer (NYC) which was set on the dancers during a residency in September.

The Mainstage Theatre is in the Ybor City Campus performing arts building of the Ybor City Campus. It is located at the corner of E Palm Ave and N 14th Street (Avenida Republica de Cuba). All performances are at 7:30 p.m. General admission is $15.00. All HCC students, faculty and staff are admitted free of charge with valid ID. The box office opens a half hour prior to the performance. Tickets can be purchased in advance at https://hccfl.afford.com/paynow?storeid=1510
