Dr. Craig Hardesty


Originally from the coalfields of West Virginia, Craig Hardesty was the first person in his family to obtain a college degree. He received his B.A. and M.S. in mathematics as well as an Ed.D. in Higher Education Leadership from Marshall University. Hardesty has taught mathematics at the two-year college level for over 20 years in West Virginia, Kentucky, Maryland, and Florida. He has been a member of the HCC family since 2006. Originally at the Plant City Campus, Hardesty transferred to the SouthShore Center to become the first tenure-track faculty member at that location in 2008. He has served as Program Manager, Interim Dean (2009), and Dean of Academic Affairs since February 2013. He is a NISOD Award winner (2010) and a recipient of the Blackboard Catalyst Award in Exemplary Course Design (2011) for his online College Algebra course.
