Suzanne Camp Crosby Exhibition at HCC Ybor City Campus Gallery

December 15, 2014

Dateline:

TAMPA, Fla.

Hillsborough Community College’s Ybor City School of Visual and Performing Arts Gallery presents Assembly Required, an exhibition of select photographs from 1994-2014 celebrating Suzanne Camp Crosby’s 20 years as fulltime art faculty on the HCC Ybor City Campus. Over the years, Crosby has shared her passion with thousands of students who will be her ultimate legacy. Crosby retires on April 30.

The exhibition will run January 12 through February 12, 2015. An Artist’s Reception will take place Thursday, January 29 at 4:30 - 7:30 p.m. with a Gallery Talk at 6:15 p.m.

Crosby, a directorial photographer, creates her photographs by staging or assembling people or objects in front of her lens or intervening in real-life situations through direction of the participants. Her photographic works are dramatic rather than subtle and are more self-expressive, concerned with formal excellence, print quality and composition. These works of art beg to be interpreted as Crosby plays with ambiguity, humor and illusion, opening her work to a variety of readings and critical interpretations.

The HCC Ybor Art Gallery is located in the Performing Arts Building, first floor, Palm Ave and 15th street. Regular hours are Monday, Wednesday and Friday 10 a.m. – 4.pm. & Tuesday noon to 7 p.m. For more information, please contact Carolyn Kossar at 813-253-7674 or ckossar@hccfl.edu.
