Hillsborough Community College Ybor City Gallery Presents TRANSPORTATION

May 16, 2017

Tampa, FL

Hillsborough Community College’s Ybor City School of Visual and Performing Arts Gallery presents a multi-media installation exploring the effects of transportation on our world, Transportation: From here to there and back again and how we changed the world. Children throughout the Tampa Bay area are collaborating with Tampa’s acclaimed arts-integrated, non-profit organization Community Stepping Stones (CSS) of Sulphur Springs.

The installation will run from May 18 to June 21, 2017.  A reception will take place on Thursday, May 18 from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m.

Over 100 young artists from schools and organizations including Oak Grove Elementary School, Community Stepping Stones' Sulphur Springs Campus, Metropolitan Ministries, Tampa Housing Authority and Hispanic Services Council were involved in creating the artwork. From Viking long ships to space shuttles, students traced the impact of exploration and cultural expansion through history. They learned that transportation can influence how we eat, what we wear and where we live.

The HCC Ybor City Art Gallery is located in the Performing Arts Building, first floor, Palm Ave and 15th street. Regular hours are Monday, Wednesday and Friday 10 a.m. – 4.pm. & Tuesday noon to 7 p.m. Parking is available in the HCC visitor lots, the Ybor Garage on 15th St and the Nuccio Parking Garage.
