HCC Volleyball Takes 3rd at NJCAA National Tournament

Hillsborough Community College's Lady Hawks Volleyball team defeated Salt Lake Community College 17-25, 23-25, 25-21, 25-19, 15-3 to take third place in the National Junior College Athletics Association (NJCAA) National Championship Tournament in Casper, Wyoming. The Lady Hawks entered the tournament as the sixth seed and finished the season with a #3 national ranking. The Lady Hawks only loss in the tournament was to Blinn Community College who won the tournament. Andrea Tauai was named to the All-Tournament Team and Coach Gary Larkin was named Northeast/Southeast Region Coach of the Year by his peers.

This finish is the best in team history and caps off their state title win on November 10 and a Suncoast Conference title. The season also saw Coach Larkin also log his 300th career win during the state tournament finals. He was assisted throughout the season by Associate Head Coach Monica Medvid and Assistant Coach Alyssa Breviario.

The team will arrive home on Sunday. November 24 at Tampa International Airport at 3:50 p.m. on Southwest Airlines.
