Hillsborough Community College is proud to announce four volleyball players have committed to play with a four-year college and/or university.
Setter Briana Stowell committed to play for USF and will report in January. Briana was All-State, All-Conference, and National Player of the Week while playing for the Hawks.
Outside Hitter Abigail O'Ferrell signed with Eckerd College and will also report in January. Abbie was National Player of the Week, State Tournament MVP, and All-Conference as a Lady Hawk.
Middle Blocker Sharonda Pickering signed with Florida Gulf Coast University and will report in the summer. Sharonda was All-Conference and nationally ranked in blocks per set.
Libero Larra Bickelhaupt signed with University at Buffalo and will report in January. Larra was All-Conference and State Player of the Week for HCC.
Sophomore transfer Madara Bajare will be making her choice in the coming weeks.
"What a special group," said Coach Gary Larkin. "They were a joy to coach, and all are poised to make impacts with their future teams."
These student-athletes were a part of the sophomore class that led HCC to a two-year record of 55-15. The team also won the 2015 State Championship, 2015 Conference Championship, finished 3rd at the 2015 NJCAA Championships, and ended the season with a final ranking of 12th in the 2016 National Poll.
"This is why we do what we do," continued Larkin. "Seeing these doors opened for our players is our reward."
