HCC’s Culinary Management Program Ranked #1 in Florida
“We are humbled by this recognition which is a testament to our faculty, staff and students,” stated Elizabeth Johnson, dean of the associate in science degree programs at the Dale Mabry Campus. “The culinary management degree and certificate programs at the college are designed to provide students with the applied skills they need to have a fulfilling career in this growing field.”
HCC’s culinary management program is housed at the Dale Mabry Campus and is one of four programs that make up the overall hospitality management program. Students enrolled in the culinary management program can earn an associate in science degree in culinary management or college credit certificates in culinary arts or chef’s apprentice. The program offers its more than 170 students with the flexibility of full-time or part-time enrollment.
In addition to the classroom curriculum, the program affords students with the opportunity to conduct internships at restaurants, hotels and event halls in the Tampa Bay community. Students apply the skills they have learned from the classroom and gain invaluable experience in a multitude of work settings. Additionally, students in the program participate in the management and operation of the Gourmet Room, a campus-based restaurant that serves as a working classroom for students.
Hillsborough Community College serves more than 44,000 students annually at five campuses and three centers throughout Hillsborough County. HCC is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools.
