HCC Announces 2016-17 Guitar Series Concert Schedule
2016-17 Concert Schedule:
October 21, 2016 – SoloDuo
As SoloDuo, Matteo Mela and Lorenzo Micheli have performed throughout Europe, Asia, the USA, Canada and Latin America, and have been acclaimed everywhere – from New York’s Carnegie Hall to Seoul’s Sejong Chamber Hall, from Kiev’s Hall of Columns to Vienna’s Konzerthaus. According to a review by the Washington Post, “the duo’s playing was nothing less than rapturous – profound and unforgettable musicianship of the highest order.”
December 2, 2016 – Dr. Jimmy Moore
Multi-award winning guitarist Dr. Jimmy Moore has been a featured artist at many international guitar and music festivals, including: The Sessione Senese per la Musica e l'Arte in Siena, Italy; the Tennessee Guitar Festival, The Domain Forget Summer Music Academy in Quebec, and the National Guitar Summer Workshop in Nashville, TN. He has performed for many well-known dignitaries and celebrities in the USA and abroad, and is a frequent performer with the Orlando Philharmonic Orchestra and the South Georgia Ballet.
February 3, 2017 - Thibaut Garcia
Born in Toulouse, France, Thibaut Garcia began to play the guitar at the age of seven. Garcia credits his Spanish origins as a primary influence on his way of thinking. At twenty-two, Garcia has already won several international competition prizes including first prize at the Guitar Foundation of America in Oklahoma City in 2015, the “Jose Thomas” international competition in Spain in 2014, the IV Sevilla International Guitar Competition in Spain in 2013, the “Terra Siculorum” in Romania in 2013, the “Ana Amalia” in Weimar, Germany in 2011, and the “Valle de Egues” in Spain in 2008.
March 24, 2017 - The Duo of Pasquale Rucco and Douglas James
The duo of Pasquale Rucco and Douglas James specializes in the guitar literature of the early 19th century performed on authentic instruments of the period. The two first met and became friends at guitar festivals in northern Italy during the early 1990's. They have now been performing together for nearly twenty years, charming audiences with their interpretations of music from the first true "golden age" of the guitar.
The Guitar Series is sponsored by the Dale Mabry Campus Student Government Association.
